A Rare Kimono Day
We are open only on Tuesdays — and for a limited time, also on Fridays — just around 20 days a year. If your trip to Gotokuji happens to fall on one of those rare days, consider it a special invitation from the maneki-neko to enjoy a graceful and unique kimono experience at Manekimono.

“Manekimono” is a unique kimono service designed to offer international visitors to Gotokuji — famous for its lucky beckoning cats — a simple and enjoyable way to experience Japanese culture. The name carries several playful layers of meaning. Maneki means “to invite,” and mono can mean “a person,” reflecting our wish to invite good fortune and meaningful encounters. At the same time, mane can also mean “to mimic,” which hints at our playful remakes of traditional kimono — re-designed into easy, two-piece outfits that anyone can enjoy. With this spirit, we hope your visit to Gotokuji becomes an even more memorable experience.
1. Photo Plan
Wear kimono, take photos inside the shop, and return it immediately.
(No walking outside.)
Includes simple hair styling with accessories, a small selection of kimono (about 6 styles), and a few bags.
♪ A short mini-lesson (about 5 minutes) on how to walk in kimono and pose beautifully for photos.
2. Gotokuji Plan
Wear kimono and enjoy a short walk to Gotokuji Temple.
All rentals must be returned by 3:30 PM (JST).
Includes simple hair styling with accessories, a small selection of kimono (about 6 styles), and a few bags.
♪ A short mini-lesson (about 5 minutes) on how to walk in kimono and pose beautifully for photos.
Return Policy:
• Please return by 3:30 PM.
• Late fee: ¥3,000 per 30 minutes.
• Damage or stains may incur a repair fee (up to ¥10,000).
♪ Photos are for reference only. Actual kimono and styling may vary.
• Children’s kimono are not available.
• We ask you to let us know the gender and size of each guest. Cross-dressing is welcome,
but please note that size limitations may apply.
• We have a limited number of kimono, especially for groups larger than 4. If you plan to book with 4 or more people, please contact us in advance.
